Play Therapy

Learning to express emotions is a normal part of how children navigate through life challenges, however, sometimes children are unable to develop healthy coping strategies. As a result, the child becomes easily frustrated, throws tantrums, withdrawn, decrease pleasure in activities or has emotional outbursts. Parents tend to get frustrated and feel like there is no one to turn to. The goal of play therapy is to help children connect their emotions to their behaviors and encourage stronger communication and coping skills.

Play therapy can also enhance:

  • Self-esteem
  • Empathy
  • Social Skills
  • Stronger Family Relationships
  • Reduce Anxiety

Why Play Therapy

Play is the child's language and play allows us to practice skills and roles needed for survival. Learning and development are best fostered through play.

Play therapy can take up to 35 sessions. Optimal outcomes are achieved after around 30-35 sessions. However, the exact number of sessions needed varies depending on individual factors such as the child's needs, the severity of the problem, and the level of family support. Play therapy sessions are typically 45-53 minutes long.
